Overview:
This webinar will focus on using the iPad with VoiceOver and Zoom with classroom applications. The classroom applications for the iPad that will be demonstrated will be iA Writer, Dropbox, Keynote, Calendar, Dictionary!, Safari, Talking Scientific Calculator, and several accessible preschool apps. All apps will be demonstrated with both a Bluetooth keyboard and a Braille display. This assistive technology software is very easy to use and provides visually impaired students the same access to technology as sighted individuals.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to determine if an iPad app is accessible or not for visually impaired students.
2. Participants will be able to use iA Writer with VoiceOver and Braille displays to produce student work.
3. Participants will be able to determine the features that make a preschool app accessible for totally blind children.
4. Participants will be able to use the first-letter navigation for blind students that is a part of Talking Scientific Calculator.
Speaker Bio:
Assistive Technology Specialist Washington State School for the Blind 1987 – Present Teacher for the Visually Impaired Area Education Agency 6 Marshalltown, Iowa 1980 – 1987 Responsible for developing and implementing a statewide technology program. Every blind student in the state of Washington has a copy of JAWS. Provide training statewide on the BrailleNote, Duxbury, IntelliTools, JAWS, and VoiceOver Responsible for developing IntelliBraille, activities for totally blind students designed to be used with Classroom Suite 4 from IntelliTools.
