The Professional Certificate in Acute Care has been created to assist you in acquiring knowledge and skills that cover a broad range of topics important for OT practitioners working within the acute care setting. The safe and effective treatment that OTs provide to patients requiring acute and often, intensive care, while working as part of a team, is paramount for our profession and patients. This certificate process will provided you with information related to orthopedic, cardiac and cognitive concers as well as information related to specific areas within the acute care setting. Courses on documentation and discharge planning are also provided. Together these areas of content will ensure that you approach your client with a full holistic focus on how to empower patients and their family/caretakers as they regain early skills and abilities needed for participation in daily life occupations.
A professional certificate is a verifiable document that attests to knowledge obtained by a practitioner regarding a specific topic or topic area. Professional certificates are obtained through the completion of designated AOTA professional development activities and the completion of required foundational courses.
This badge will be awarded automatically following completion of all designated acute care program courses and the final integration activity.
