The OT profession was built on mental health, but few opportunities for OT practice in mental health exist today. Nontraditional fieldworks developed by OT practitioners, academic OT programs, and mental health organizations can address this gap. The presenter will describe this collaborative model to implement a quality OT student-driven program within a local community mental health organization. Future use of this model can address OT's pursuit of returning to its mental health roots.
