Cognitive flexibility is an executive function skill that encompasses idea generation and set shifting. Coping with unexpected change can be a challenge to autistic children and teens and may negatively impact occupational performance. Although cognitive flexibility falls within the scope of OT, it is rarely addressed in pediatric treatment, and the therapeutic resources available are limited. This short course will present an evidence-based intervention to promote cognitive flexibility.
