Research on pain biology education has increased in the past decade, highlighting promising implications for OT. Although traditional pain education focuses on anatomy and biomechanics, pain biology education focuses on teaching the physiology of the pain system and how the nervous system processes pain. Using this biopsychosocial approach can help clients better understand pain and thus improve occupational performance.
