This program provides instruction on vision screening strategies and assessment tools that occupational therapists can use to identify vision problems and determine how vision loss may be affecting client’s activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). Findings from a basic vision assessment help in formulating functional goals and appropriate interventions that address identified impairments and improve client’s occupational performance.
This course provides a solid approach for conducting a basic vision assessment including vision history, eye dominance, visual acuity, contract sensitivity, peripheral visual field, central visional field and preferred retinal locus (PRL), reading performance and handwriting performance.
Photos, video clips and downloadable handouts with instructions for functional visual assessments are provided.
