Course Description:
This interactive online course covers the basics of rheumatoid arthritis as it pertains to the hand and upper extremity including pathophysiology and biomechanics. In addition, a variety of intervention techniques such as joint protection, adaptive equipment considerations and physical agent modalities with documentation suggestions are presented. The interactive book format contains text, video clips and photos, making this clinically relevant content easy to follow and understand.
Learning objectives:
· Describe the pathological process of RA
· Differentiate the stages of RA
· Identify elements of the assessment process for RA
· Describe various conservative interventions including: orthosis, modalities, therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment and joint protection
· Identify various surgical interventions associated with RA
Online exam must be passed with a score of 80% to receive AOTA certificate of completion.
