SUD is a complex and pervasive issue affecting more than 20 million Americans. SUD impacts all areas of an individual’s occupational performance; yet, there is a gap in understanding OT interventions for supporting recovery. Therefore, this panel presentation includes both the perspective of the practitioner and that of the individual in recovery from SUD to discuss current research trends and the role of occupation-based approaches to recovery.
Objectives
Following this session the participant will be able to:
· Identify the current challenges surrounding approaches to recovery and prevention of relapse among those with SUD.
· Describe the role of OT and occupation-based approaches in recovery from SUD.
