PCA offers OTs a strengths-based, empowerment-focused method, based on member priorities, to build community capacity to inform program development, implementation, and evaluation. An example of how PCA was employed with people transitioning out of homelessness and their supportive housing organization will be presented. This PCA resulted in relevant findings that generated collaborative goals and created a plan for action to maximize community engagement.
Following this presentation, the practitioner will be able to:
· Recognize the role of PCA in building capacity and empowering communities for maximal community engagement.
· Identify participatory assessment approaches to mobilize strengths of community members in program development.
