Description:
The purpose of this course is to provide you with a better understanding of generational trauma including why and how it persists. In addition, the course will ensure that you have a better understanding of the way in which attachments form. This course will also assist you in better recognizing what trauma informed care is and what trauma informed wraparound services are---in order to support students in school settings. And lastly, because we cannot support our students if we do not support families, this course will provide strategies to assist families in understanding and coping with the reality of trauma and attachment issues.
Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the practitioner will be able to-

Describe ways in which generational trauma persists.

Describe the way in which attachment forms.

Identify strategies for developing secure/healthy attachment.

Recognize trauma-informed wrap around strategies for supporting students’ school-wide, in the classroom, and during 1:1 sessions.

Identify trauma-informed strategies for supporting families.
