Program description: This event will utilize a combination of didactic and panel discussion formats to explore the topics of social determinants (sometimes ‘drivers’) of health and occupational therapy practice. An overview of key components to SDoH and a crosswalk to occupational therapy practice and core values will set the stage for exploration of key exemplars in addressing housing and transportation needs of individuals and communities. Panel discussion will be used to expose approaches to identifying and overcoming barriers to successful implementation. Large group discussion will close the session by considering the implications and intersections with practitioner well-being.
Upon completion of this webinar, learners will:
-
Describe the importance and synergies of linking OT practice to addressing SDoH
-
Review practice trends that support greater emphasis on SDoH interventions
-
Reflect on the potential for building job satisfaction and practitioner well-being through greater alignment of occupational therapy practice and SDoH
