Program Description
Some of the most frustrating and difficult-to-treat upper extremity MSDs encountered by occupational therapists are caused by chronic degenerative tendinopathies and scar tissue that develops after traumatic injury or surgical intervention.
Astym therapy is a scientifically developed rehabilitation process that stimulates regeneration in degenerative tendons and resorption of inappropriate scar tissue. This specific intervention has been proven to resolve many chronic conditions that have failed to respond to typical treatment approaches.
This presentation will describe the appropriate utilization of Astym therapy protocols to treat several challenging musculoskeletal disorders frequently encountered by occupational therapists caring for patients with upper extremity conditions.
Astym delivers rapid results within a limited number of treatments. With a solid evidence base and extensive real-world outcomes data, Astym therapy allows referral sources, providers, and payors to confidently set appropriate outcome expectations and establish more cost-effective clinical care pathways.
