PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
With nearly 60 million adults living with a form of doctor-diagnosed arthritis, occupational therapists can play a pivotal role on the health care team. With OT skills and knowledge grounded in general joint protection principles, we can provide patient education that can have a lifelong effect on an arthritis patient’s prognosis and ability to self-manage their condition.
This webinar will provide an overview of how OT can take joint protection principles to the next level to help patients apply these measures to daily tasks and improve overall occupational performance and quality of life.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
· Understand the inflammation process as it relates to joint pain.
· Review general joint protection principles and identify ways to incorporate this patient education into patient-centered treatment planning.
· Analyze methods of applying joint protection principles and introducing adaptive equipment.
