Course Description:
Clients in acute care hospitals face occupational deprivation that takes a toll on physical and mental health. At the same time, the U.S. healthcare system is placing greater value on patient-centered, functional outcomes. Despite these needs and priorities, evidence suggests that occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) do not consistently address occupation in the acute care setting. This online course provides helpful information on how to “focus on function” in acute care occupational therapy practice. This course is appropriate for occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant students and practitioners with experience or interest in acute care practice.
