This webinar session will utilize an ecological approach to demonstrate how reflective learning, feedback, and debriefing assist students on fieldwork. Case studies and interactive learning will be a part of this session.

SPEAKERS
Rebecca L Simon, EdD, OTR/L, FAOTA
Rebecca L Simon is the Associate Dean of the College of Health & Wellness and former Associate Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at Johnson & Wales University, Providence, RI.
Rebecca received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Care Administration from Stonehill College and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University. She completed her Doctorate in Education, with a concentration in Higher Education Administration, at Northeastern University.
Although beginning her role as a pediatric clinician, Simon has been in academia since 2001, becoming a full-time academic fieldwork coordinator in 2008. She has taught at the associates, bachelors, masters, and doctorate level.
Rebecca is an active member of her community, both personally and professionally. She is the current AOTA Academic Leadership Council Fieldwork Chairperson (a position that puts her on AOTA’s Commission on Education), recent co-chair of the New England Occupational Therapy Education Council, and formerly the Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Association Communication Chair. Rebecca has received service commendations and recognition for her work, and became a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association in 2019, recognized for her creative leadership in fieldwork education.
Her scholarly activities include book chapters, published articles, grant funded projects, and several presentations over the years.
Colleen McGee, OTR/L
Colleen McGee is an occupational therapist located in Columbia, SC currently working in pediatrics.
Colleen graduated from Quinnipiac University in 1994 with a BS in occupational therapy. She began her career in a skilled nursing facility in Rhode Island where she fell in love with the senior population. She has had a long career working with the geriatric population in a variety of settings including SNF, acute care, home health care as well as assisted living. She has also held various positions spanning from staff occupational therapist, rehabilitation director to regional rehabilitation director.
Teaching, guiding, and encouraging both occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students and new graduate occupational therapy practitioners s has been a passion of Colleen’s throughout her career. Her goal when working with students is to have them see the value of their services in improving the quality of life of the clients they treat and to go home knowing you made a difference.
