 A common source of stress in the acute care setting is dealing with patients who have a poor prognosis, die, or are dying. Occupational therapists?may find situations difficult to manage emotionally. Understanding ethical guidelines, nuances of available care decisions, and personal triggers can improve insight into difficult situations to reduce moral and emotional distress. This course will discuss end-of-life and moral considerations, including decision-making capacity, the levels of care available for EOL care, emotional and moral distress coping strategies, and the occupational therapist's role in maximizing quality of life at the end of life.
