Module Description

 

This module, the second one in the AOTA Cancer Series, explores the differences between primary and secondary lymphedema, and the 5 stages of lymphedema.  Mainly the module examines the causes and symptoms of secondary lymphedema, specifically breast cancer related lymphedema.  Methods for measuring the severity of lymphedema are addressed, together with OT intervention strategies for meeting the physiological, psychological, and emotional challenges associated with breast cancer related lymphedema.  Finally, a case example walks the learner through an OT evaluation and recommended interventions for a client with breast cancer related lymphedema.
