Overview:

This course will provide training for people who conduct assessments and need to be aware of all the various transportation solutions available for wheelchair and scooter users. There are so many variables involved in making recommendations that all of those involved in the process need to be aware of how those factors relate to the consumer’s needs. Any errors or misunderstandings during the process could result in significant problems related to vehicle access and/or safety.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify appropriate vehicle modifications for wheelchair and scooter access.
  2. Participants will be able to discuss appropriate equipment for occupied wheelchair and scooter tie downs.
  3. Participants will be able to identify appropriate equipment for transporting unoccupied wheelchairs and scooters.
  4. Participants will be able to refer to relevant safety guidelines and standards.
