An e-mail address is required for online courses. You will receive an e-mail confirmation directly from ATiA the next business day with access information. Access emails will not be sent for purchases made on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and/or holidays until the next business day.

This course will provide training for people who conduct assessments and need to be aware of all the various transportation solutions available for wheelchair and scooter users. There are so many variables involved in making recommendations that all of those involved in the process need to be aware of how those factors relate to the consumer’s needs. Any errors or misunderstandings during the process could result in significant problems related to vehicle access and/or safety.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify appropriate vehicle modifications for wheelchair and scooter access.
  2. Participants will be able to discuss appropriate equipment for occupied wheelchair and scooter tie downs.
  3. Participants will be able to identify appropriate equipment for transporting unoccupied wheelchairs and scooters.
  4. Participants will be able to refer to relevant safety guidelines and standards.

Andrea Vrobel, COTA, LMSW, CDRS, is the Executive Director of The Ralph Braun Foundation. She joined this nonprofit organization in July 2014 in order to share her passion of helping individuals with disabilities improve their quality of life. Andrea became a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) 17 years ago and throughout those years she worked with older adult populations, home health care patients, and adults with developmental disabilities. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in 2005, followed by her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 2007. She began her career in driver rehabilitation at Easter Seals Crossroads in 2008, receiving her certification as a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) in 2009. She spent five years in the driver rehabilitation program with this amazing organization, during which time she gained a strong understanding of the financial difficulties many individuals and families face. This journey led her to her current position with The Ralph Braun Foundation, allowing her to promote mobility freedom for those who need it most.

Andrea has been a member of The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) since 2008. She is also a member of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) Education and Training Committee.
