ABSTRACT
The virtual context is increasingly pervasive in everyday technology and as part of our everyday occupations. Yet it does not appear to be fully understood or used in everyday occupational therapy practice. This article reviews the history of technology in occupational therapy and seeks to refine the understanding of the virtual context and technology in relation to occupation and occupational therapy practice, with the aim of increasing occupationally based treatment options in the clinic. The article also examines current and potential uses of everyday technology in occupational therapy and how it can help clients achieve their goals.
