Get the recognition that you deserve, while improving outcomes for your clients with AOTA’S professional certificate and micro credential program.
A micro credential is issued upon completion of a set of required thematically connected courses and three essentials courses that are specifically chosen for the micro credential that you are earning.
This bundle includes all four courses that you will need to complete the low vision content of this micro credential. Please see the essentials course bundle to purchase this second set of required content. Once you complete all 7 courses, you can obtain your digital badge as evidence of your knowledge and skills in this area.
This new first response for low vision rehabilitation micro credential series covers the continuum of care for low vision and will provide you with the knowledge to initiate the “first response for low vision rehabilitation.” A first responder is a professional who can perform a functional vision evaluation and develop first response rehabilitation interventions. This level of intervention includes available materials that can compensate for vision loss while the client waits for the services of a certified low vision or blindness rehabilitation specialist.
When you have successfully completed courses 1-4 in this sequence, in addition to the required essentials courses, you will have the opportunity to request a digital badge and let others know that you can provide “first response for low vision rehabilitation” on your electronic correspondence and CV.
It is particularly important that colleagues within your setting, particularly in settings that work with older adults, take the minimum of course #1 to learn to screen for vision disability. This will benefit clients who have difficulty engaging in occupations and provide a referral base.
This micro credential is included in all plus+ and premium AOTA memberships!
Expiration: Please note that this and all AOTA CE courses expire 1-yr from purchase regardless of the completion status.
