Product Overview

Get the recognition that you deserve, while improving outcomes for your clients with AOTA’S professional certificate and micro credential program.

A micro credential is issued upon completion of a set of required thematically connected courses and three essentials courses that are specifically chosen for the micro credential that you are earning.  This bundle contains the 3 essentials courses required for the micro credential.  Each course is also available individually---do not purchase the bundle if you have aleady obtained courses individually.

When you have successfully completed courses 1-4 in this sequence, in addition to the required essentials courses (for a total of 7 courses), you will have the opportunity to request a digital badge and let others know that you can provide “first response for low vision rehabilitation” on your electronic correspondence and CV.

The courses for this micro credential are included in all plus+ and premium AOTA memberships!

This new first response for low vision rehabilitation micro credential series covers the continuum of care for low vision and will provide you with the knowledge to initiate the “first response for low vision rehabilitation.”  A practitioner is able to provide the first response for visual difficulties as they have knowledge and skills to perform a functional vision evaluation and develop first response rehabilitation interventions.  This level of intervention includes available materials that can compensate for vision loss while the client waits for the services of a certified low vision or blindness rehabilitation specialist.

It is particularly important that colleagues within your setting, particularly in settings that work with older adults, take the minimum of course #1 to learn to screen for vision disability.  This will benefit clients who have difficulty engaging in occupations and provide a referral base.
